Everything comes in the one sealed box
Cards
Ziggurat is primarily a card game – there are lots of card decks. Unfortunately, the cards are delivered out of sequence and need to be put in order.
Locate the DIVIDERS (separated banded packet) and place these in the box. The following sets of cards should be placed behind the dividers as follows.
Hero: Unwritten Fates & Hero: Past Lives (19 cards)
Unwritten Fates are “unplayed” heroes and their assets. Past Lives is a location for played heroes and their assets – empty when you start.
Located the following card types and put them together here:
- hero avatar cards (picture and stats/background and suggested setup)
- all Hero Weapon cards
- all Virtuosity cards
Gear (4 cards)
All Gear cards.
Maledictions (2 cards)
All Malediction cards.
True Names: Forgotten & True Names: Known (9 cards)
Forgotten are “unplayed” true name cards. Known is a location for discovered true name cards – empty when you start.
Place all true names under “Forgotten” – backs have the title archon, demon or elemental.
Loot (36 Cards)
All cards with a big back pack full of supplies.
Consider isolating the 16 loot cards with sun icons top-right and using these for the tutorial and first few quests – this will reduce the variety of actions available, and consequently rules lookups needed to utilise items.
Location Encounters & Banished Encounters (54 cards)
Location are “unplayed” encounter cards. Banished are location encounters that have been completed – empty when we start.
Place all location encounters in numeric order – 3 location encounters per map tile (3 x 18).
Denizens (54 cards)
Denizen cards are grouped into 6 factions of 9 cards; Jungle, Ziggurat, Caves, Crypts, Cultist and Companion.
Tutorials (8 cards)
There are a small selection of tutorial cards – cut down example of a complete quest.
Collection:
- The Monolith Tutorial Quest; 5 quest cards with blue borders
- Tutorial location encounters; 3 location encounters with “Tutorial” badge (J1, J2, J3)
Vignettes (27 cards)
Each set of quest cards include a cover, quest cards, threat cards and potentially some unique cards. All will share the same icon in a set.
Vignettes including:
- The Monolith (6 cards)
- The Fallen Gate (6 cards)
- Sentinel (8 cards)
- Legion (7 cards)
Sagas (27 cards)
Each set of quest cards include a cover, quest cards, threat cards, potentially some unique cards and a set of Peril Event cards. All will share the same icon in a set.
Sagas including:
- Thoth’s Bounty (18 cards)
- Reliquary of Q’Arn (16 cards)
Map Tiles and Tokens
You will find a stack of 20 small cutouts – ready to get your hands dirty.
Map tiles should stack neatly in the box (see below). Tokens and other components can be separated into the three plastic bags as needed.
I recommend separating the tokens as follows but any useful separation will work:
- components, dice, cubes and standees
- hero tableau tokens; blue conditions, red combat status, black mastery, green +/-, heart tokens
- quest tableau tokens; gold explore, barrier/poi, time, back track tokens
Player Aids
All tarot cards are player aids; trackers and rule summaries. They go on top of the other stuff.
