Hero specialisation; card layout

I understand that a Hero’s “Specialization” is something modular that varies from Hero to hero, whereas the Mastery Cache is a common element. But there’s no need to let that fact about the design dictate where this information is presented in the player’s “UI” so to speak. In the image below, the 2 pieces of information I’ve highlighted are functionally linked to understanding how Memory and Mastery work with Vixen, but they are scattered around the card. I would prefer them both displayed along an edge of the card that’s dedicated to Memory/Mastery (and I personally prefer the bottom edge).

Food for thought…

There are three things:

  • specialisation; the memory sphere or spheres your hero can convert anything to
  • transmutation; the parley keyword you can apply to any equipment card
  • mastery cache; currently 3 slots for all heros

I was thinking of possibly:

  • moving mastery cache and memory specialisation below the hero title in a single line
  • creating an inventory “break camp” box where the mastery cache currently is.. and adding the transmutation (if present) as an attachment to the inventory box as they are related

Uhmm I think first I need a word of clarification on where this sick hero Vermis is from

I like the idea of consolidating the “UI elements” for mastery cache and specialization, as you know. I won’t haggle too much about the specific positioning.

I also like the idea of a Break Camp callout box that collates all the item/equipment limits (that only apply when breaking camp).

I think I want to resist appending Transmutation to the break camp rules. I agree that in “object-oriented” terms it is related to the hero’s inventory, but it is not specifically related to break camp and (unlike the discard rules) does not apply during the break camp phase. I think visually associating it with the Break Camp box may cause some confusion about when the rule is intended to apply.

Alternative: Put the Transmutation rule “above” the Hero’s key combat stats, since the possibility of Parley will generally occur at the start of combat Then the arrangement of those rules on the Hero card will create a mini flow-diagram of affront/affray, sans some details.
